Camouflage Tents – Various Uses

Wikipedia defines camouflage as, “Camouflage is a method of concealment that allows an otherwise visible animal, military vehicle, or other object to remain unnoticed by blending with its environment. “ So with this definition in mind who or what would want to use Camouflage Tents.

  1. Military Camouflage Tents – The military has been a long time user of camouflage tents. The goal of camouflage by the military is to hide their presence. Typically the military will utilize camouflage tents to blend in with the natural elements of the surroundings. By blending in they are harder to detect and attack by their enemies.     ACU (Army Combat Uniform) Digital Camouflage uses a camouflage pattern that is designed to be very difficult to detect. The patterns were developed using a high degree of testing and actually looked at pixels as a part of the design elements.     Military camouflage tents will also be a solid color to blend with the environment. A prime example of this are the tents used recently used in Iraq by the United States military. The color was selected to blend with the desert landscape, thereby making them less visible from a distance and safer from attack.
    One of the best camouflage tents are called DRASH, Deployable Rapid Assembly Shelter.DRASH Tetn DRASH, is a quick-erect shelter system that integrates shelter, mobility, lighting, heating, cooling and power in one package. These tents, which are usually colored to match the terrain, are very popular by the military for size and adaptability to many uses. These are often used as headquarters, hospitals, and troop encampments.
  2. Hunting Camouflage Tents –Hunters who camp during their hunting seasons will use camouflage tents to blend in with the landscape and not scare the game away. By being less obtrusive in their environment it can improve hunting conditions somewhat.
    Although not really a tent, one of the best examples of camouflage is the blinds used by hunters. Some of these are absolutely fantastic in how well they blend in with their natural environment.   3. Camouflage a Tent – One method that some people use to camouflage their tent is to drape it with a camouflage tarp. These tarps are readily available at major sporting goods stores as well as on the internet. Besides camouflaging tents a tarp can be used to camouflage and site as roof or erected as walls to hide a campsite, vehicle, or almost anything.
  4. Children’s Camouflage Tents – Any discussion of camouflage tents has to include children’s tents. The typical military style camouflage tent is available for children but children’s tents often go a different direction. For example, the image at left shows what could be a child’s toy but in actuality it is a tent.
